Is The Change Of Year The Best Opportunity To Go Searching For A New Work Opening?
The New Year is a time of celebration, new beginnings and very definitely a time for reflection but is it the best time to look for a New Job? CV distribution gives you a reasonable chance if you make a decision to go down this route.
Career decisions are among the most important calls that you will ever make in your whole life. Right and wrong career selections have a profound effect on the income, the lifestyle, the people and the pals that you make so you actually should choose cleverly. Making any form of serious decision at a period of high emotion, whether that is grief, anger, obsession, resentment or hurt is commonly the wrong call as you simply are not thinking in the right way.
On a private note, I use the possibility of the New Year to think about what I have accomplished in the year, gauge progress against goals set for the year before and maybe most vitally to set new goals for next year. A good goal might be to get a better job but I'd go even further. Set yourself a series of targets and goals that are stretching and probably just outside your grasp at the moment. This could include a job, a salary level, a new car, a holiday, or many other goals but please do set them.
Don't make rash promises to yourself in some sort of inebriated state in the early hours of New Years day. Wait till the celebrations have finished, the streamers have been cleared away and you are thinking clearly, objectively and you really do mean what you are going to commit to. Set yourself some time when you can be undisturbed and then honestly evaluate your progress in the year that has just gone, then truly commit, in writing to your new goals.
When you have committed and written down the goals that you have set for the New Year, be terribly careful who you share them with. Never share ideas, dreams and hopes with anyone that may tear them down- they are simply too crucial and too frail to leave open to that kind of attack. Instead , if you do wish to share those goals, share them with somebody you trust and respect; someone that will help you, nurture your dreams and help you towards those goals.
Therefore is the New Year a good time to look for a Work opening? It most definitely is, but please make the choice for the best reasons and make a commitment to getting the right job for you, not just losing your old boss!
